If so, we offer the Certified Bourbon Steward course from the prestigious Stave & Thief Society. This course is the perfect first step for anyone wanting to navigate the rich history, intricate science, and diverse flavors of bourbon.

Throughout the course, you'll delve into the roots of bourbon — heritage that makes it an example of craftsmanship, unique in the world of whiskey. Special focus is given to the enduring relationship between Bourbon and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, its birthplace.

You'll examine the science of distillation and the meticulous artistry of aging and mingling. We discuss the impact of different ingredients, processes, and tools and the variety that leads each Bourbon to be dynamic and different.

The course helps you to discover the artistry of whiskey appreciation using all your senses. Expanding upon those basics, you’ll learn to combine bourbons into flights to examine comparisons and contrast. The course emphasizes the importance of whiskey hospitality teaching to be a true steward to others when sharing your flights with family and friends.

Participants receive The Bourbon Stewards Handbook. Upon completion of an on-line assessment, the society will cement your membership by mailing you the prestigious crossed-thieves lapel pin.
